surely you’re happy, it should be this way

I think it’s time to declare bankrupty. Why not?
I just received a letter from a credit card company, saying they are decreasing my available credit to about $0.45 above my current balance. There goes that emergency buffer. This means that if a payment is even fifteen minutes late I’ll be charged, in addition to a late fee, an over-limit fee caused by the addition of the late charge fee. Fuck you very much.
Can’t I get a couple of thousand out of that $1,000,000,000,000,000,000 that is being giving to homeowners, businesses (including the financial institution that sent me the letter), rich people and just about everybody else? I don’t really own anything of value so I won’t be losing any assets and if it ruins my credit rating for the next seven years, so what? It’s not like I’m going to be buying a house anytime soon.
I wonder how much a bankruptcy lawyer would cost. Surely they’re available like late-night ambulance chaser lawyers? If not, then there’s a niche that needs to be filled.
that money isn’t going to homeowners. I don’t know where it’s going but it isn’t to homeowners. I think I read that HOPENOW had helped about 312 people as of November. WTF? My bank wouldn’t even talk to me about renegotiating my loan rate BECAUSE I”VE PAID MY BILLS! You should see if they will at least cut your interest rate, OR negotiate. The NY Times had an article on this. I know a lawyer, don’t know how much he charges. . .Ernest Francis. http://www.consumerjurist.com.
Yeah, I have to agree with Funbags- you’ll be surprised at what they’ll do if you just ask. I regularly call my insurance company to see if I qualify for a lower rate, and I’ve done that with credit cards before too. Keep on tryin’, my friend…
…and I think since the ‘Pubs changed the bankruptcy laws, discharging your debt may not be as easy as before. I will have to go with the group and see what you can negotiate with the card companies directly. I have a Washington Mutual card with a 8.99%APR…well, until they were absorbed by Chase. I got a letter saying that they were jacking up the rate to 13.99%, and I have never been late or over my limit…the revolution starts in five…four…three…
Hang in there, hun. We love you.
